Thanks to our successful Kickstarter campaign, the HoneyBadger backpack is in production.

With the Honey Badger, we introduce an entirely new way to approach pack construction. Made of a semi-rigid HDPE material, the Honey Badger is an incredibly abrasion-resistant, versatile, and customizable pack with an unbelievable array of uses. It accomplishes this at a fraction of the weight of a fabric pack of comparable durability. The shell is made of a lightweight, waterproof material using highly water-resistant construction techniques. When used with the included roll-top dry bag (which doubles as a standalone backpack), the pack is fully waterproof. The rigid back panel acts as its own frame, distributing weight evenly for a shockingly comfortable carry and protecting your back from pointy objects poking you from inside the pack. The self-closing magnetic buckle can be easily opened with one hand.

The Honey Badger can be used as a bicycle pannier to fit on any standard rear bicycle rack with the addition of our pannier accessory. The pannier accessory and shoulder harness can be used together, allowing you to quickly and easily switch between bike and walk modes. Another bike-focused feature is the translucent shell that allows the pack to light up when you place a light on the inside. A phone light, blinky LED, or other flashlight are all great ways to dramatically increase your nighttime visibility when riding your bike. Lights can be placed in the mesh compartment of the included Flip Pocket or placed on top of your gear inside the pack. Uber drivers aren't getting any better and being visible on your bike is more important than ever. An optional suspended laptop sleeve will protect your computer from drops and rounds out the commuter features of the pack.

The shell is easily customizable. Using household tools, you can cut or melt holes in the shell to add straps anywhere you like. The cable tie/perlon cord construction provides ample tie-down points, making it easy to lash on as much gear as you can carry.

We've yet to discover an adventure, event, or activity that the pack can’t handle. During testing, we dragged packs behind trucks, up the nose of El Capitan, through narrow slot canyons, and even dropped one out of a plane. If you somehow manage to damage your pack, all parts are easily field repairable (we replaced a few ties after the plane drop and it was as good as new!).

Whether you're an urban biker looking for a bomber high-vis commuting bag or a climber looking for a haul bag that laughs in the face of sharp granite, the Honey Badger is a pack that will adventure as hard as you do.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the size of the Honey Badger, we can only ship them USPS Ground. Please select USPS Retail Ground at checkout for shipping, not UPS. Please reach out to us with any questions about shipping.

Bike to Back

Well, sadly you're sold out of Honey Badgers! As it stands I commute by bike and pack and love the versatility of switching from pannier to pack. I really hope you get the funding to continue producing this product...would love to try it!

Funky Little Pack

Pros:
Honey Badger's sort of a modern take on a New England pack basket but I expect to wear out the harness before the durable main body ever has an issue.
It can light up when it's not full, which is both fun & useful- either for safety on the road or as a diffused-light 'lantern'.
I grabbed the pannier conversion & expect to get a lot of use out of it, though I've also found that the pack is more comfortable to cycle with than expected.
It's sized to (usually) qualify as an airline carry-on.
It's easily moddable - i may add a water bottle pocket & some LED lights.
The magnetic clasp is a lot of fun, it makes opening & closing the pack fast & easy.

Cons, though these are all pretty minor:
The Honey Badger can't compress for storage due to its hard shell.
It is a little resonant when lightly loaded, with some click-clacks & other noise that can be annoying. I often stow a few extra layerable garments in the pack to help keep things quiet.
The seam where the white and black plastics meet can be a little buckled. This is only an aesthetic issue, maybe one that can be resolved as the design gets more fine-tweaking.
Finally, my 'biggest' issue with the design- the rounded bottom requires one either lay the pack on its back or prop it against something before opening it, as it can't stand up on its own. I'm guessing the rounded bottom was chosen for a sleek and aerodynamic look & a flat bottom would probably look a bit unexciting. I'm kind of on the fence about this - I like the zoomy look but also want the pack to be a bit easier to work with. Maybe I'll get used to it.

And finally, speaking of the pack's looks, people really like to look at the Honey Badger, and sometimes stop to ask about it. This may be a pro or a con, depending on how you feel about the extra attention. Be prepared for the experience of "Why are they looking at me so long is my hair doing something weird- oh wait, they're just wondering about my ...

Definitely from the future, and the future is fun

This backpack is super unique. I guarantee you'll get multiple people asking you about it on the trail. Because of it's translucent plastic shell, it gives some advantages that normal backpacks don't:
* Turns into an amazing "camp fire" at night if you put a head lamp in it
* You can put stickers on it (that may seem like whatever, but it really is revolutionary)
* You can go through really nasty rocks and trees and not worry about it getting shredded

This is seriously a fun backpack. If you are looking for some extra spice on an day hike or an overnight backpacking trip, can't go wrong with the honey badger =)

The translucency is brilliant!

This pack is lightweight(!) and fits well on the body. However, the best part is the translucent nature of the shell - I can playfully add a light inside for interest (and visibility!) at night. During the day, no one can see what I have inside (or how badly I have packed). I value this flexibility the material design offers.

Works great for a 2 night backpacking trip

The key is to poke/drill/punch a few holes for straps. (I used a Dremel tool.) I've got a Windrider and a few other packs but I keep returning to this for short trips.
